This building, designed by architect Angelos Demetriou, principal of Angelos Demetriou & Associates, who said the point was not to imitate traditional Islamic architecture, “but to create out of it.”
To achieve this, Demetriou specified honed, thermal, and mirror-polished surfaces for the building’s granite exterior, sometimes incorporating all three finishes in one piece of granite. Rugo provided all the granite, marble, and ceramic tile mosaic domes for the entire building.
The quality of the work is extremely high, and the clients were delighted with the on-time schedule performance and quality of work. This project received multiple awards for Rugo’s craftsmanship. International Masonry Institute Golden Trowel Award, the WBC Exterior stone craftsmanship awards, and the Coverings Trade show Grand Prize Award.
