The exterior of this building involved two massive stair towers clad in 3″ Indiana limestone as well as two very tall slender spires clad in granite. The stone package was bid without a secondary support system defined. Rugo Stone and their engineers designed a galvanized steel uni-strut and misc steel support system to create a secondary support system for the massive 3″ cladding. This secondary support system was fully coordinated with the stud wall construction to create a barrier wall behind our framing system.
Our framing system was created in a collaborative “design-assist” method with Clark and the PE of record. Rugo erected mast climber scaffolding and designed a mono-rail system to feed these heavy stones on to the work platform for a safe and efficient installation with minimal site footprint interruption to the other trades. This project was very challenging yet successful as the main building structure included a secondary stone support system, which was designed by Rugo in fully integrated shop drawings, which included all adjacent scope conditions to ensure a watertight installation.
