St. Jude Catholic Church in Peoria, IL project is a prestigious endeavor that began in July 2022 and completed in November 2023. This monumental project was conceived to enhance the church’s sanctuary with refined elegance and a sense of sacred beauty, adhering to the high standards of ecclesiastical architecture and design.
Our scope of the work in this new church included the supply and installation of several key elements, the entire project was fabricated in-house by Rugo Stone.
Sanctuary Floor: The sanctuary floor is a striking checkerboard pattern composed of five different colored marble pavers. This intricate design delivers a visual feast, elevating the aesthetic ambiance of the sacred space.
Marble Altar of Sacrifice: The altar is a masterpiece, featuring cubic marble columns and finely carved capitals. It is adorned with ornate moldings and embellished with 24 Karat gold mosaic inlay featuring the Lamb of God, symbolizing divinity and purity.
Rear Altar: Matching the grandeur of the main altar, the rear altar also received ornate moldings and cubic columns with carved capitals, ensuring a cohesive and opulent design throughout the sanctuary.
Marble Baptismal Font: Designed with free-standing columns in Bianco Carrara and red marble inlays, the font resonates with symbolic significance, representing the Sacred Heart. The contrasting cool tones of grey, darker grey, and green marble create a lush and unique design that stands out from traditional baptismal fonts. The font basin is inlaid with Venetian glass mosaic.
The materials used in this project were meticulously handpicked, ensuring the highest quality and first-choice marbles that contribute to the overall elegance and durability of the sanctuary’s design elements.
The altar’s intricate carvings are a fine blend of modern CNC machining and traditional hand carving techniques. This combination not only ensured precision and consistency but also honored the craft’s rich history.
The project was completed on schedule, demonstrating efficient project management and coordination among all involved parties.
