The Our Lady of La Vang Chapel is dedicated to Vietnamese Catholics. The Chapel displays some of Rugo’s most exceptional artistry in micro-mosaics. Rugo artisans created two panels, 8’x4′ using the direct method of micro-mosaic assembly. The one the left wall is The Martyrs of Vietnam, which shows 118 figures of the known Vietnamese martyrs killed for their faith in the 18th century.
Rugo mosaic artists created 118 faces no more than 1 1/4″ tall, which is considered a very high degree of difficulty. The 2nd panel is an impressionist mosaic showing Mary Mother of God greeting the faithful. The ceiling is all blue Venetian glass and displays various constellations of stars.
