National Shrine of the Immaculate Conception

Our mosaic experts spent two and a half years installing this mosaic on domes located 90 feet above the cathedral floor. We managed the installation safely, without interfering with Mass-goers or their views of the altar.

This project’s clean design involved sourcing and selecting an exceptionally uniform type of Italian grey granite. Our experts also designed and installed a custom stone support system for a polished façade set above a reflecting pool.

These high Gothic architectural elements—intricate arches, rose windows, finials, profiled copings, and buttresses—all incorporate Duke stone. This unique material required hand-chiseling and blending to create the linear ashlar pattern from its seventeen distinct colors.
